The branch opened its doors in 1996, following an inauguration ceremony and speech delivered by namesake Dr. Maya Angelou.

The library offers computer workstations and printing for general and Internet use, a reference collection for in-depth research, and a circulating collection of library materials to borrow with a library card. The Maya Angelou Community Room can be rented for meetings. Please contact the Library for more information.

The branch maintains Spanish-language materials significant to the overall collection of the Library. Also, there are specialized materials on African American history and other social sciences. The Stockton RecordSan Francisco Chronicle and a variety of magazines are available for browsing.

The bookdrop is located on the west side of the covered walkway leading into the Angelou Library. The bookdrop is open all day, so that customers can return their materials on time.

The library is closed Sundays and on these holidays.
